Lavender Wands

A FAVORITE OF THE VICTORIANS, the lavender wand makes a lovely gift for the ladies in the wedding. Traditionally used to scent the linen drawer, lavender is also welcome beside the bed, in the bureau, or on the vanity.

To make lavender wands you will need:

13-17 stalks of fresh lavender (you’ll an odd number)

1 1/2 yards 1/4″ ribbon

1. Place a rubber bandlav.wand.1 securely around the lavender at the base of the flowers.

2. Carefully bend the stalks down over the rubber band, one by one, encasing the lavender flowers. Secure at the base with another rubber band.

 

lav.wand.33. Thread the ribbon under one of the stalks, then carefully pull it up to the top and begin weaving the ribbon over and under the stalks, all the way down to the bottom. Pin in place and let sit for a few weeks to dry. The stalks will shrink a bit. Adjust the ribbons. Remove the rubber band at the base of the stems. Tie ribbon in a knot; then add a bow.
